Mumbai, Mar 4: Considering Maharashtra's rich artistic heritage and the need to preserve and promote this culture, MLC Satyajeet Tambe demanded that an independent state-level Visual Arts University be set up. Tambe called on Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil and submitted a formal proposal. Notably, Patil responded positively to Tambe's demands.

Tambe emphasised the need for the university to grow the arts scene in Maharashtra and how it will benefit the state. "Maharashtra houses many renowned art institutions but does not have a dedicated university. As a result, students, as well as these institutions, face several challenges. Establishing a Visual Arts University would give a renewed sense of direction to art education and contribute significantly to the sector's growth.

Chandrakant Patil acknowledged the demand and expressed confidence that the dream of a Visual Arts University would soon be realised. He also assured that a thorough study would be conducted on the matter and the necessary steps would be taken.

The Minister's response is praised by experts and professionals in the art sector. There is a strong hope that Maharashtra will soon have its own Visual Arts University, providing a new identity to the state’s arts scene and encouraging young artists.
